Answers from experts.Choosing Drawer Sizes For Cabinets
How do I know which size to order for my existing cabinets?
Sizing can be tricky, so we've simplified it by listing the External Cabinet Width. If you have a standard 600mm cupboard (measured from the outside edge to outside edge), you simply order the 600mm basket. We have already calculated the deductions for standard 16mm carcass walls and the runner width.
DIY Cabinet Drawer Installation
Do I need a cabinet maker to install these, or is it DIY-friendly?
These are designed specifically for the retro-fit DIY market. If you are comfortable using a tape measure, a pencil, and a cordless drill, you can install them yourself. You won't need to dismantle your entire kitchen; the runners mount directly to the inside walls of your existing cupboard
Preventing Runner Sag With Heavy Pots
Will the runners sag or stick if I load them with heavy pots?
We use heavy-duty, soft-close ball bearing runners designed to handle significant weight, such as stacks of dinner plates, cast iron cookware, or appliances. Unlike cheaper friction-slide baskets that grind over time, these are engineered to glide smoothly and close softly, even when fully loaded.
Storage Impact Of Drawer Runners
Will I lose storage space by installing runners?
Technically, you lose a small amount of width (approx. 35mm) to accommodate the runners. However, you gain a massive amount of accessible volume. Most people only use the front 60% of a fixed shelf because the back is too hard to reach. By switching to pull-out baskets, you utilise 100% of the basket area, which usually results in a net gain of usable storage.
Cleaning Wire Mesh Drawers
How do I clean the wire mesh if something spills?
Wire baskets are actually easier to keep clean than solid drawers because crumbs and dust tend to fall through rather than accumulating in corners. For sticky spills, the entire basket can be unclipped from the runners and washed in the sink with warm soapy water, then dried thoroughly before clicking back into place.
