Answers from experts.

Under Sink Bin Installation

Will this fit under my kitchen sink?

Yes, the Hailo Solo is specifically designed for tight spaces like under-sink cabinets. With an installation height of only 396mm and a depth of 427mm, it fits comfortably around most standard plumbing and S-bends. We recommend measuring your available depth and checking for any low-hanging pipes just to be sure.

DIY Pull Out Bin Installation Guide

Is this difficult to install for a DIY beginner?

It is quite straightforward. The system is base-mounted, meaning you only need to screw the metal frame into the bottom of your cupboard. There are no complicated side-wall measurements or drawer adjustments required. If you have the 400mm 'automatic' version, there is one extra step to attach the door-follow arm, but the 300mm version is a simple four-screw fix to the base.

Preventing Plastic Bin Odors

Will the plastic bin absorb smells over time?

The inner bucket is made from high-quality, non-porous plastic that resists absorbing odours if cleaned regularly. The system also features a built-in lid that remains fixed inside the cabinet as you pull the bin out. This lid acts as a seal when the bin is closed, helping to contain smells within the unit rather than letting them drift through your kitchen.

Preventing Overfilled Kitchen Bins

What happens if I overfill the bin?

Because the lid is fixed inside the cabinet, overfilling the bin will prevent the unit from closing properly. If rubbish is sticking up above the rim of the bucket, it will catch on the stationary lid as you try to push the door shut. You must empty these bins before they "heap" to ensure smooth operation.

Removing Bin Buckets For Cleaning

Can I take the bucket out to scrub it?

Absolutely. The 20L inner bin lifts straight out of the metal frame. This makes it easy to carry the rubbish out to your kerbside bin and allows you to give the bucket a thorough wash in the laundry tub or with a hose, keeping your kitchen hygienic.
