FAQ

Commonly asked questions about the Nicolazzi Range

Yes. Nicolazzi taps supplied through authorised AU channels are WaterMark certified and come with WELS ratings by model. For warranty and best performance, have a licensed plumber install them, keep static pressure ≤ 500 kPa, and fit inline filters.

Nicolazzi’s unlacquered (live) brass finishes are:

  • Raw Brass (OG)
  • Brushed Brass (OS)
  • Polised/Shining Brass (OL)

“Live” means the metal is not clear-coated—it will naturally patina (darken, spot, warm in tone) with touch, water and air. This is intentional and part of the look; it isn’t a defect. Expect fingerprints and water marks to mellow into a richer finish over time. Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap only; avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners. If you polish, you’ll reset the patina to bright brass.

If you prefer a stable appearance, choose plated or coated finishes (e.g., Chrome, Satin/Polished Nickel, Gold/English Gold/Gold Brass, Bronze/Dark Bronze, Iron, Matte Black/White). These are designed to hold their colour with routine care.

Short answer: cold. Most pot fillers are plumbed to cold-only in Australia.

Why cold is best
AU water authorities recommend using cold water for drinking/cooking. Hot can pick up metals or tank flavours.
A single-valve pot filler on hot can deliver >60 °C water right at the cooktop—easy to splash, hard to control.
Pot fillers are single-line taps; cold-only avoids tempering/mixing complications.

Can I run hot?
You can, but it’s not typical and we don’t recommend it for kitchens. If you really want warmer fill, stick with cold supply and heat on the hob, or use your main sink mixer (which has mixing and a safer work zone).

Install tips (AU)

  • Licensed plumber; keep static pressure ≤ 500 kPa and fit inline filters.
  • Isolation stop behind the splashback for service.
  • Check reach/clearance over burners and hinge swing; keep sensible distance from open flame.

Side-sprays are great for rinsing and pots. They require an extra bench hole and the mixer’s diverter will send flow to the spray when engaged (so the main spout pauses—by design). Ensure enough bench clearance for the hose sweep and confirm hole spacing with your plumber before stone is cut.

Use a soft cloth + mild soap, then rinse and dry. Avoid abrasives, bleach, and harsh chemicals. For live brass, expect fingerprints and patina; if you ever polish it, you’ll reset the patina back to bright brass. Clean aerators periodically; cartridges are long-life but replaceable.

Typically 15 years on the tap body, with 1 year on consumables (cartridges/hoses/aerators). Buying via an authorised AU distributor ensures local parts and straightforward claims. Keep your proof of purchase and plumber’s details handy.
