Eighty-five cans, chilled in the heat
This Schmick fridge uses triple glazed, Low-E glass to hold its temperature, and is tropical rated to keep chilling to 2°C even when it's 38°C outside. An internal fan moves air over the evaporator plate, so the whole cabinet cools evenly rather than in patches. It carries a 9 star energy rating and runs on R600 gas with LED lighting.
It's built to live indoors or in a covered outdoor space, with a black cabinet and stainless steel grille that handle alfresco conditions. The glass door closes and locks itself and is hinged on the left, and inside, 9 adjustable shelf slots across 3 chromed shelves plus a bottom shelf hold up to 85 cans. LED strip lighting comes in colour options, and two adjustable feet help it sit level wherever it goes.

Building it in? Your cavity needs to be at least 470 mm wide, 600 mm deep and 720 mm high, leaving 20 mm each side, 100 mm at the back and 20 mm on top for ventilation. Built in with the right ventilation, it runs quieter, cools better and lasts longer.
What it costs to run. Left on all year, it uses about 584 kWh (1.6 kWh a day). At 30c per kWh that is roughly $175 a year. Your own rate is on your power bill.
