Answers from experts.

Replacing Handles With Cabinet Knobs

I'm replacing old handles. Can I swap them for these knobs?

It depends on your existing setup. These knobs require a single screw hole. If your old handles were "pulls" with two holes (e.g., 96mm apart), removing them will leave you with two ugly holes that a single knob won't cover. These are best used for replacing existing single knobs or for brand-new joinery where you can drill a single fresh hole centred on the door frame.

Solid Vs Hollow Cabinet Knobs

Are these knobs solid metal or hollow?

The H2385 is die-cast from solid Zinc Alloy. When you pick one up, it has a surprising amount of weight to it. It is not a hollow, tinny piece of metal that feels cheap. This density ensures it feels premium every time you open a heavy pantry door or a pot drawer.

Knobs Vs Handles For Heavy Drawers

Are knobs practical for heavy drawers?

For very wide, heavy pot drawers (e.g., 900mm wide), a single knob can sometimes feel a bit small to get the necessary leverage. In those cases, we often recommend installing two knobs (one on each side of the drawer) to distribute the load, or mixing and matching: use these knobs for your overhead cupboards and swing doors, and use matching pull handles for your heavy drawers.

Cabinet Knob Size For Adult Hands

Is the size too small for adult hands?

At approximately 30mm in diameter, this knob is the "Goldilocks" size-not so small that it's fiddly to grip, but not so large that it looks like a clown nose on your cabinets. It provides enough surface area for a solid two-finger grip, making it comfortable for adults while remaining unobtrusive in the overall kitchen design.

Cleaning Cabinet Knobs Safely

How do I clean them without ruining the finish?

The golden rule for cabinet hardware is: keep it simple. Do not use "Gumption," bleach, or citrus-based spray cleaners, as these can strip the protective lacquer or tarnish the nickel. A damp microfibre cloth with warm water is all you need to wipe away fingerprints and grease.

Preventing Cabinet Knobs From Spinning

How do I stop the knobs from spinning loose over time?

This is the most common annoyance with single-screw knobs. The trick is tight installation. We recommend holding the knob firmly with a grippy cloth while you tighten the screw from the back with a manual screwdriver (not a drill) until it "bites" into the cabinet face. For extra security, a tiny dab of thread-locker (Loctite) on the screw or a small star washer between the screw head and the drawer box will keep it rock solid forever.
