Häfele Salsa Pro Spice Tray | Cut to any width up to 1300mm | Fits drawers 492–550mm deep

$134.95

An oversized spice sheet you cut down to your own drawer — free on width, fixed on depth.

It arrives as a single corrugated sheet, 1300mm wide by 550mm deep. Cut it to any width you like up to 1300mm — that is the easy axis, straight down between the ramps.

Depth is the one to check before you order. The ramps run across the 550mm and cannot be freely shortened: the corrugated field itself is 492.3mm, so the sheet suits drawers roughly 492mm to 550mm deep. Below 492mm you would be cutting a whole ramp away, and the tray stops working.

Then check height. You need at least 83mm of clear height inside the drawer — measure from the base to the underside of the drawer front, not the top of it. That figure cannot be worked around.

Answers from experts.

Custom Drawer Insert Fit

Will this fit my oddly sized or custom kitchen drawer?

Yes, it is specifically designed to accommodate almost any drawer width. Out of the box, the tray measures a massive 1300mm wide by 550mm deep. It is a "cut-to-size" product, meaning you simply trim it down to match the exact internal dimensions of your specific drawer. Whether you have a narrow 300mm cabinet or a wide 900mm pot drawer, you can tailor it for a perfect, edge-to-edge fit.

Cutting Plastic Drawer Inserts Safely

How do I cut the plastic without snapping or ruining it?

While it is made from durable 3mm plastic, you don't need heavy power tools to trim it. The most effective method is the "score and snap" technique. Simply measure your drawer's internal width and depth, mark the back of the tray, and use a metal straight-edge and a sharp Stanley knife to score a deep line along your marks. Once scored heavily, the plastic will snap cleanly along the line for a professional, factory-style edge.

Plastic Drawer Insert Strength For Jar Storage

Is the plastic flimsy? Will it warp under the weight of glass jars?

The Salsa Pro tray is manufactured from 3mm thick vacuum-formed plastic. This is not the thin, brittle plastic found in cheap department store inserts. The structural ridges of the tiered design give it immense rigidity. Even when fully loaded with heavy glass jars from end to end, it will not bow, sag, or warp over time.

Jar Storage Layout Efficiency In Drawers

Does laying jars flat waste space compared to standing them up?

Laying jars at an angle requires a larger horizontal footprint, but it solves the primary issue of spice storage: visibility. When jars are stood upright in a drawer, you can only see the lids, requiring you to pick them up one by one to find the cumin. The sloped design presents the labels facing upwards, allowing for instant identification. It is the most efficient use of a shallow top drawer where standing jars simply wouldn't fit.

Preventing Jars Sliding In Drawer Inserts

Will the jars roll or slide around every time I open the drawer?

The tray is engineered with a specific sloped angle that uses gravity to keep the jars nested securely against the bottom lip of each tier. Combined with the slightly textured matte finish of the plastic, this ensures your jars remain uniformly aligned and quiet, rather than rolling around and crashing into each other every time you reach for an ingredient.

Preventing Drawer Insert Colour Transfer

Will the colour scratch off onto my glass jars after a few years?

The White, Silver, and Anthracite finishes are not painted onto the surface; the colour is uniform throughout the vacuum-formed plastic material. This means that the constant sliding of glass jars will not scratch away a top coat to reveal a cheap base colour underneath. It remains visually clean and premium for the lifetime of your kitchen.
