Answers from experts.Drawer Tray Compatibility With Specific Drawer Widths
Will these trays fit my specific drawer width?
The Cuisio system is sold in pre-configured sets designed for standard Australian cabinet widths (e.g., 400mm, 500mm, 600mm, up to 1200mm external width). However, the genius of the design lies in the flexible sealing lips (gaskets) on the edges. These soft fins compress or expand slightly to bridge the gap between the tray and your drawer wall, ensuring a snug fit in drawers from Blum, Hettich, or Grass without leaving ugly gaps.
Cutting Drawer Trays To Size
Do I need to cut them to size?
No cutting is required. Unlike cheap plastic molded trays that you have to attack with a Stanley knife, the Cuisio inserts drop straight in. The flexible side gaskets take up the slack (usually tolerating 10-15mm of variance), creating a "custom-fitted" look instantly.
Preventing Plastic Drawer Trays From Scratching Or Brittleness
Will the plastic scratch or go brittle?
The inserts are made from high-quality translucent or graphite plastic combined with anodized aluminium profiles. This material mix is significantly more durable than standard injection-molded plastic. It resists scratching from sharp knife tips and won't yellow or turn brittle like cheaper white trays often do after a few years.
Drawer Tray Depth For Ladles And Whisks
Are the compartments deep enough for ladles and whisks?
Standard cutlery trays are often too shallow for bulky tools. The Cuisio inserts usually feature variable width compartments. While the standard sections are perfect for forks and spoons, for larger utensils (whisks, mashers), we recommend removing one of the internal dividers (if adjustable in your specific set) or ensuring you buy a set that includes a "wide" insert specifically for preparation tools.
Preventing Crumbs In Drawer Tray Gaps
Does crumb dust get trapped in the cracks?
Because it is a multi-part system, there are joins between the trays and the aluminium profiles. While the fit is tight, fine crumbs (like toast dust) can eventually work their way into these crevices. The good news is that because the trays aren't glued down, you can easily lift the entire assembly out once a year to wipe the drawer base clean.
Dishwasher Safe Drawer Trays
Can I put them in the dishwasher?
Technically, the plastic inserts are dishwasher safe (top rack, low heat). However, we strongly recommend hand washing. High-heat dishwasher cycles can warp the sealing lips over time or affect the finish of the aluminium profiles. A quick wipe with a damp cloth is usually all that is needed to keep them looking new.
