Using Mini Fridges In Cupboards

Can I put this inside a cupboard or wardrobe?

You can, but ventilation is absolutely critical. Unlike standard compressor fridges, this absorption unit works by heating a chemical mixture to create cooling. It generates heat at the back that must escape. If you box it in completely without a vent or air gap (at least 50mm at the rear and top), the fridge will stop cooling and potentially overheat. It needs to "breathe" to work.

Fridge Cooling Delay After Plug In

I just plugged it in and it's not cold yet. Is it broken?

Absorption fridges are famous for being "slow and steady." Unlike a compressor fridge that gets cold in an hour, this unit can take 6-12 hours to reach its operating temperature. We recommend plugging it in and leaving it empty overnight before loading it with drinks. Once it's at temperature, it holds the cold very well.

Does it have a freezer for ice cream?

The "mini freezer" section is really a small evaporator plate designed for making ice cubes. It is not a deep freezer. It will keep pre-frozen ice cubes solid, but it is not cold enough to keep ice cream hard (it will turn into soup) or to freeze meat long-term. However, if you put this in a hot garage or a shed that hits 35°C in summer, the fridge will struggle to stay below 10°C. It is strictly an indoor, climate-controlled appliance.
