Customers asked these questions about Hideaway Waste Bin Compact Soft-Close (Door Pull)

Answers from experts.

Bins That Fit Under Kitchen Sinks

Will this fit under my sink?

It is highly unlikely. This unit is 615mm high. Most under-sink spaces are restricted by the sink bowl and plumbing (S-trap), leaving only 400-500mm of clearance. This model is designed for a dedicated bin cabinet where there is no drawer above it and no plumbing obstructions. It requires virtually the full height of a standard under-bench cabinet carcass.

Door Brackets For Pull Out Bins

Does it come with a door bracket?

Yes, this is a door-pull unit. The heavy-duty brackets attach the bin frame directly to your cabinet door front. When you pull your kitchen handle, the entire 80L system slides out smoothly. The brackets offer 6-way adjustment (up/down, left/right, tilt), which is critical for getting the door panel to line up perfectly with your adjacent drawers.

Runner Strength For 80L Waste Bins

Will 80L of rubbish be too heavy for the runners?

The unit runs on high-quality German soft-close tracks rated for dynamic loads (usually around 40kg). While 80L of water would weigh 80kg, 80L of general household waste typically weighs between 10kg and 20kg. As long as you aren't filling both bins entirely with heavy glass or dense compost, the runners will handle the load effortlessly for years.

Benefits Of Dual 40L Waste Bins

Why would I need 2 x 40L bins?

This is a massive capacity for a hidden bin-equivalent to a large freestanding kitchen tidy. It is ideal for large families (4+ people) who generate a lot of recycling and general waste daily. If you find yourself emptying your current small under-sink bin every single day, this 80L system will significantly reduce that chore.

Removing Bags From Deep Bin Buckets

Is it hard to get the bags out of such deep buckets?

A common annoyance with tall bins is the "vacuum effect"-suction holding the full bag in. Hideaway has solved this with air vents located on the sides of the 40L buckets. These vents allow air to enter the bottom of the bucket as you pull the bag up, breaking the vacuum seal and making bag removal effortless, even when it's stuffed full.

Odor Sealing Bin Lids

Does the lid seal in smells?

The unit uses a friction-fitted lid that remains mounted inside the cabinet. It sits flush against the top of the buckets when the unit is closed. This effectively traps odours inside the bin system (and inside the cabinet), preventing them from drifting into your kitchen. It also acts as a physical barrier against flies and pests.
