Customers asked these questions about Livorno Appliance Pull

Answers from experts.

Appliance Pull Vs Standard Cabinet Handles

What is the difference between an 'Appliance Pull' and a regular handle?

The main difference is scale and structural integrity. Regular cabinet handles are designed for lightweight drawers and cupboard doors. An Appliance Pull (like the Livorno) is significantly thicker, heavier, and engineered with sturdier mounting posts to withstand the immense force required to break the magnetic vacuum seal of a large integrated fridge or open a heavy dishwasher door without flexing or snapping.

Installing Appliance Pull Handles

Do I install this before or after the fridge panel is fitted?

For integrated appliances, the handle must almost always be installed onto the custom cabinetry panel before that panel is clipped or screwed onto the actual fridge door. The screw heads are usually hidden between the panel and the fridge face. If you try to install it afterwards, you won't be able to access the back of the screws.

Choosing Appliance Pull Size For Kitchens

I have a small kitchen. Will this look too bulky?

Appliance pulls are "statement jewellery." In a small kitchen, a large vertical pull can actually elongate the look of the cabinetry. However, because the Livorno has a substantial projection and diameter, you need to ensure it doesn't block a walkway. If your fridge is in a tight corridor, check the projection specs (how far it sticks out) to ensure you won't bump your hip on it.

Appliance Pull Grip Strength

Does it have enough grip to open a stubborn freezer?

Yes. The Livorno design typically features a textured or knurled detail (depending on the specific finish option selected) which offers superior grip compared to a smooth, polished bar. This texture allows you to get a firm hold and break the freezer seal effortlessly, even if your hands are slightly wet or greasy from cooking.

Preventing Handle Loosening Over Time

What happens if it comes loose over time?

Because of the "yank and pull" nature of fridges, screws can sometimes work loose over 5-10 years. We highly recommend using a small dab of "Blue Loctite" (thread locker) on the screws during installation. This prevents the vibration and daily movement from loosening the handle, keeping it rock-solid for the life of the kitchen.

Solid Vs Hollow Appliance Pull Handles

Is this handle solid or hollow?

The Livorno Appliance Pull is manufactured from solid brass (or a similarly dense premium alloy). It is not hollow. When you grab it to pull open a 400L fridge, you need that solid, reassuring weight. A hollow handle would feel cheap and could potentially dent or warp under the repeated stress of the suction seal.
