Customers asked these questions about Ona Lip Pull Handle Brushed Black

Answers from experts.

Installing Lip Pull Handles Without Routing

Do I need to route (cut a groove) into my cabinet doors to fit these?

Generally, no. The Momo Ona is designed as a "rear-fix" handle, meaning it screws into the back face of the door and wraps over the top edge. The metal thickness is typically around 1.5mm-2mm. Most modern adjustable hinges allow you to lower the door slightly to accommodate this thickness without needing to hire a carpenter to rebate the timber.

Do Lip Pulls Require Door Drilling

Does this require drilling through the front of the door?

No, and that is its biggest advantage. Because it screws into the back of the door, you don't ruin the pristine front face of your expensive 2-pac or timber veneer cabinetry with drill holes. If you ever decide to change handles down the track, you haven't left permanent holes in the visible face of the joinery.

Brushed Black Vs Matte Black Finishes

Is the 'Brushed Black' finish distinct from Matte Black?

Yes. Matte Black is usually a flat powder coat. Brushed Black is an electroplated or anodised finish where you can see the grain of the metal "brushed" into the surface before the black tone is applied. This texture gives it a slightly more metallic, premium sheen and, crucially, it is much better at hiding fingerprints and dust than a flat, dead-matte surface.

Using Lip Pull Handles With Long Nails

Are lip pulls hard to use if I have long fingernails?

The Ona features a specifically curved "lip" that projects downwards/outwards. Unlike cheaper, blocky tab pulls which are just a flat piece of metal, the Ona offers a decent surface area to hook your fingers under. However, if you have very long nails, you may find yourself scratching the cabinet face behind the handle over time-something to consider if you have delicate paintwork.

Safety Of Lip Pull Handle Edges

Are the edges sharp? I have kids running around.

Cheap lip pulls often have razor-sharp sides where the metal was cut. The Momo Ona is renowned for its "soft edge" finish. The corners are subtly rounded off, and the lip itself is curved, not jagged. It is one of the safest minimalist handles on the market for households with toddlers at eye-level with the drawers.

Cleaning Dirt From Lip Pull Handles

How do I clean the gunk that builds up under the lip?

Because the handle creates a "cup" shape, dust and crumbs can gather inside the pull over time. We recommend a quick wipe with a damp microfibre cloth once a fortnight. Don't use harsh scourers, as you don't want to scratch the brushed anodised finish. A soft cloth is all it takes to keep it hygienic.
