Instead, they use "Zigbee"-a low-power mesh network. This gateway acts as the "translator" between your home's Wi-Fi router and the Zigbee smart lock, allowing you to control the lock remotely from your phone.
The gateway needs to be positioned relatively centrally between your Wi-Fi router and your smart devices (like your front door lock). It boasts an impressive coverage range of up to 100 metres in open air, but thick brick walls, metal fridges, and mirrors can reduce this. Placing it in the same room or an adjacent hallway to the smart lock ensures a lightning-fast, drop-free connection.
Absolutely. It is a low-voltage DC device designed for continuous, round-the-clock operation. It consumes a minuscule amount of power.
